Northern Aroostook County is known all throughout New England to h ave the best snowmobile trails in the Northeast. Snowmobiling is best at Cozy Pines with direct access to ITS (Interconnecting Trail System) 81. Maine ITS trails make up over 1600 miles of trails for you to enjoy throughout Aroostook County. Every winter the town of Madawaska hosts the International Snowmobile Festival which runs the first weekend in February. This international event between Madawaska and Edmundston, NB, welcomes snowmobilers from New England, Maritime Provinces and Quebec, to participate in events on both sides of the border: 1600 miles of groomed
International trails, access to lodging, restaurants, and gasoline. Events include the “Lucky Run” – 400 miles of marked trails to choose from on both sides of the border, International Snowmobilers Parade, bonfire and fireworks, and much more. This event is held just a short snowmobile ride from our access trail on ITS 81. We will gladly provide you with maps of the trail system. Also nearby you can also enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or if you just need a place to stay and relax, we can be your home away from home.
The St. John Valley is snowmobile capital for trail quality and amount of snow. The snow doesn't miss here. Rated #1 in New England!
While the major winter activity is snowmobiling, the county also offers downhill skiing, cross-country skiing (more than 100 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails), ice fishing, snowshoeing and ice skating. The County is an area rich with tradition and hospitality, so a winter vacation is one you’ll long remember. A variety of exciting activities await the visitor: snowmobile drag racing, winter carnivals, snowmobile events, Can Am International dog sled racing, and the International Snowmobile Festival.

Spring, summer and fall months are great for ATV riding in Aroostook County. Many snowmobile trails become ATV trails, which make ATV riding as pleasurable as snowmobiling. We have nearly as many miles of trails for the ATV season as snowmobile season. Ride for a week or just a weekend, there’s plenty of area to cover so you don’t have to worry of riding always on the same trails.
St. John Valley is a great place to visit during foliage season as the Valley offers great colors and great scenic views. Cooler temperatures earlier in the fall season bring out the beautiful colors on our mountain ranges.
For hunters Cozy Pines Lodge is a premiere location being in the center of moose and bear population. Maine Hunting Guides are available and we can refer one on request. Our lodge is also located in a great area for fishing, as we are located near a chain of lakes such as Long lake, Cross Lake, Square Lake and Eagle Lake. They have produced great quality salmon, brook trout, and togue. Local rivers are also becoming popular fishing spots as the St. John and Allagash Rivers have been known to also produce quality trout and muskie. These rivers are also great places to take relaxing kayak rides.
Snowmobile rentals are available and we also can make arrangements for watercraft, and party barge rentals for the summer months.
